2009 PLAYER OF THE YEAR
TERRELL CHESTNUT
Pottsgrove Falcons
QB/S

Terrell Chestnut came into the 2009 season with some heavy expectations and a huge target on his back. The quarterback of the defending PAC10 champs....All-State reputation....stop this guy and you stop Pottsgrove....the list goes on and on. But yet, Chestnut stayed focused and humble as he led the Falcons to a school record 14-1 record, another PAC10 championship, and Pottsgrove's first ever District I AAA championship. He learned how to play quarterback, and learned it well. He now makes all the reads in the Spread Offense that the Falcons run to near perfection. Chestnut engineers an offense that averages 33 points a game. He has rushed for 893 yards and 17 touchdowns, and although passing sparingly, he threw for another 432 yards and four TDS. Then when most QBs take a rest while their team is on defense, Terrell lines up at safety, where he is a combination linebacker/defensive back. He can cover any wideout, and yet still come up quickly and make a big tackle. He is one of the most complete football players we have ever seen in our area.....and guess what? He is only a junior.
2009 COACH OF THE YEAR
Rick Pennypacker
Pottsgrove Falcons

After going undefeated in winning the PAC10 championship, making it into the second round of the district playoffs, and finishing with an 11-2 record in 2008, Rick Pennypacker thought his 21st year at the helm of the Pottsgrove Falcons could be really exciting. He looked over his returning lettermen and some of his incoming youngsters, and had a wry smile. 2009 can be very special he thought.....and boy was he right! Pennypacker inspired, motivated, extolled, and coached his troops to a school record 14-1 record, another PAC10 championship, and a first time ever District I championship. He has done his best coaching job ever. He has learned to trust his assistants and let them coach, while learning to trust his talented QB and let him play. His talent and ability to coach the offensive line may be his best quality as a coach. The Falcon linemen rarely make a blocking mistake, and get off the ball better than any in our area. Pennypacker takes great pride in his offensive linemen, and their play shows it. The scary part is that when this season is over, he will look over his returning lettermen and promising youngsters for 2010 and have an even bigger smile!
